Welcome!

Welcome to the Kelly / Varcoe-Cocks world trip blog in July/August 2012. This year we head to Africa, (Namibia and Botswana) traveling solo by 4wd for a month. Assuming we survive charging elephants, roaring lions and vicious hippo's we head north to London for the Olympics. After watching Australia at the Basketball, Tae Kwon Do and visiting Legoland for Luke's 9th birthday we head to Ireland to visit our multitude of friendly relatives. Homeward bound with a stop in Tokyo to really get extreme cultural experiences we will be back on the 27th August. We hope you enjoy our trip with us!

Onguma Bush Camp 11th July 2012

It was a very very cold night, which we all felt. It's amazing how quickly the temperature changes though. It must have gone from 0 to 25 in a few hours. We decided after a hectic week to have the day off and spent a lot of it by the pool, doing the blog:), playing soccer, the boys braved the water which was freezing and generally enjoying a lazy day.

Lunch was over the waterhole but no animals turned up during the day, I suspect they go to the more exclusive camps waterholes a couple of km's away. We weren't too fussed having seen so much over the last 3 days.

The good news is our car is due to arrive tonight. We put up our little tent that we had bought with us, emptied out our old car and had dinner by the campfire. Now we're waiting for the new car to arrive. Hopefully by 10pm. We are heading off early to the kalahari desert to spend time with the bushmen and to pass through Namibia's remotest park, so we are likely to be offline for a while....hopefully this car will work!

  1. Here's hoping the second car brings you more of. Sounds like the tent was worth it. We're loving sharing the journey.
